HOMEWORK LINE: Create mood, action or intention through use of line explorations.

PROBLEM:

Using line only, create a one-word “message” poster. All imagery must be confined to LINE ONLY.

PROCESS:

Part I: In your sketchbooks, start playing with line to create the mood, action or intention about the word. Do not begin poster until you’ve tried at least 4-5 variations and have one solution you want to execute as the final piece.

Part II: Create your final poster on white bristol (provided in class)

This will be started Monday in-class and finished for Wednesday September 30 beginning of class..

pen and ink
markers

MAJOR 2-D ELEMENTS & PRINCIPLES:
(from your Definitions List)
Elements: Form, and Line types and characteristics (see Definitions list)
Principles: Repetition, Pattern, Harmony, Balance, Proportion, Symmetry, Dominance and more

CONSIDERATIONS:
For variations in texture, or value use line or repetition of form only.

Use black and white only. Use thin or thick lines or variation of medium to give illusion of gray.

Type has shape, line and value, negative space just as other forms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
11 x 14 BLACK AND WHITE poster
