PROBLEM: Translating texture using line and value

MATERIALS: collage, then pencil

PRESENTATION: 10 x 10 inch square with half inch border
(9 x 9 image area)

ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE: 4 hours

a) Create a collage of textures in a quilt pattern, using both real textures (i.e. sandpaper, rice paper, vinyl, etc) and photographs of textures. You MUST include a real texture. Can be any color

b) Using black pencil only, recreate this square using simulated texture (see texture vocabulary).

A quilt pattern for this class can be defined as a combination of a pattern using radial symmetry an combining interlocking geometric and elliptical shapes.
