ALPHABET CITY

PROBLEM: Value + UNITY

DETAILS: Using the alphabet (Roman characters) as the forms for this design, the class is going to create an installation for exhibit.

EACH student will be using one or several (to be determined in class)

UNIFIED ELEMENTS: Horizen line same measurements from bottom of page (to be determined in class)

LIMITATIONS: the ONLY shapes that can be used are letters of the alphabet.

VALUE from white to black. NO color.

MATERIALS: Acrylic paint, pen and ink, poster board

PRESENTATION: 18 x 24

DUE: Tuesday November 4 critique

SHOW TO BE HUNG: Thursday November 6 in outer space.

In-class: Line studies, shape studies.... use first week letter assignemnts... take stencils and experiment

Inspiration: Please study Frank Stella, Futurism, and Cubism.

Considerations: Keep in mind quality of line, contour, shape, negative space...
