PROBLEM Value:

Value Exploration 1

Create a value chart using 2” squares of acrylic paint to create “chips”.
Step the value 11 times. (see example on website)

MATERIALS: acrylic paint (black mixed with white)

Use the following additional materials. One grid each set of materials.
ink mixed with water (wash)
pencil using line texture

Once “middle” gray is determined, mount and glue chart on a field with a 1/2” border to see the variation in value more clearly.

Create a simple “landscape” abstraction using
gradations from and denoting a “Horizon” line. (see example on website)
