Ray Charles

Biography

Charles was born on Sept 23, 1930 in the town of Albany, Georgia and ended up growing up in Greenville Florida. At the age of seven Ray became completely blind and lost his mother and brother at the age of fifteen. Even though the man was completely blind, Ray was still able to play a variety pf instruments including the clarinet, the saxophone, and of course of the piano. Ray was able to use thouse skills to get his own music contract. He work with huge companies like Altanic Records and ABC. Ray music was composed of Jazz, Gospel, Country, Rock, Blues, Soul, Pop, and of course the introductory of R and B.

Ray's goal was to use his music to influence others and capture emotion and virtuosity in his music. Many people today consider him as a rock and roll preacher, a smooth sophisticated popular singer, a big band leader, and a swinging post-bop pianist. Ray Charles was able to release numerous albums and would eventually become a legend in the music department.

Ray won numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award, an award given to performers who have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significant to the field of recording. Ray would later be inducted into the hall of fame and would be considered one of the best musicians in the world. Ray would later die in June 10, 2004 at the age of 73 in Beverly Hills, California, where he would leave with a total of 130 songs, a record no other artist would get to.
